Bio: Nima is an Outreach Specialist from the North Carolina Department of Justice. She has been with the Department since 2007. She hails from Tar Heel, North Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds a Masters in Public Affairs with an emphasis in Intergovernmental Relations and Economic Development from North Carolina Central University. She has a Certification in Financial Social Work. She is a current Leadership NC Fellow in the Class of XXII.
She travels all over the state educating citizens on a myriad of issues that are within the sphere of the departments public policy initiatives. As an issue expert she is often a guest consumer analyst for various media outlets around the state and nation. Her respective issues include but are not limited to Child Internet Safety, Identity Theft, Cybercrimes and Frauds and Scams.
She drafts legislative reports and policy memorandum. She has also staffed various committees for her department such as the NC Human Trafficking Commission, Governors Street Safe Taskforce and the North Carolina Financial Literacy Taskforce. Ms. Burns sits on a number of boards and is active in her church community
